Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening involves bleaching your teeth to make them lighter. It can't make your teeth brilliant white, but it can lighten the existing colour by several shades. We offer two options:
- In surgery Zoom and home bleaching trays
- Home bleaching trays only
All patients who would like to whiten their teeth, will first need to have a general dental check-up to ensure that their gums and teeth are healthy. For best results it is advisable to have a thorough hygiene appointment to remove as much staining on your teeth as possible prior to bleaching. The best way to do this is with prophyflex i.e enhanced stain removal - this is best done a week prior to your bleaching appointment.

Zoom Whitening Treatment
Zoom treatment takes 90 minutes to complete in the surgery and the treatment includes trays (mouthguard) to use at home for top-up bleaching. Zoom treatment is effectively laser whitening. A bleaching product is painted onto your teeth and then an intense blue light or “laser” is shone on them to activate the whitening gel to give an intensive dose of treatment.
What to expect during your appointment
• During your 90 minutes appointment, the dentist will also take an impression/scan of your teeth to make a tray for the home bleaching. You will be instructed on how to use the trays with the bleaching gel.
• The trays take approximately 10 days to make, and you will be contacted when it arrives at the surgery for collection. You may then use your trays & home bleaching to top up the colour achieved after your Zoom treatment. This should last several years so that you can keep benefitting from a white smile!
Home Bleaching Trays Only
You will need to make a 30 minute appointment for the dentist to take impressions of your teeth. The impressions are send off to the dental lab to make the trays. It takes approximately 10 days for the trays to be returned and you will be contacted to collect the trays. When collecting the trays, you will be given instructions on how to use the bleaching gel and trays safely at home. You are able to buy top-up bleaching gel syringes from our surgery after your initial bleaching gel has run out.
